details.

Well we should have known from all the planning and scheduling that went into this day to make it as seamless as possible that something would go wrong.  For the "details" here goes as told by Mommy...
We arrived at the hospital at 6am to get the show on the road.  By 7:30am I had my IV set up, medicines pumping and sat watching Jay and my Mom eat doughnuts and drink coffee in front of me (I CRAVED doughnuts my last trimester).  For a few hours I watched contractions come and go on the machine while still being able to breathe through them. Around 10am Jay, Mom and Bruce stepped out while my nurse hooked me up with a bag of medicine to help fight the infection of GBS.  Within a matter of minutes my IV arm was on fire and I was screaming bloody murder.  I have never felt anything so painful in my life...and remember I did give birth to Parker.  I couldn't press the button fast enough to get the nurse and when she arrived realized that the valve was wide open as to where the meds were flooding my veins and causing the pain.  With nothing to do but scream and cry she said she would flush my veins with saline in hopes to push everything through. PAIN PAIN PAIN!!  The saline felt like magic! Once that drama was over my contractions were getting pretty strong but I felt that I could still breathe them out since I still had a few centimeters to go.  Around lunch my nurse gave me an  "IV cocktail" to ease the pain...I was beside myself "drunk".  You know how in the movies women are screaming "I NEED TO PUSH!!" well within 30 minutes or so of the IV that is where I was.  I was so loopy from the meds but was begging for the epidural for the pain, the nurse checked me and the next thing I knew was screaming down the hall for the doctor...Presley was ready to come out!  Needless to say from the look on Jay's face I knew an epidural wasn't an option...all I could do was cry and pray.  I had to have sounded like a crazy person sending up a slurring prayer. Jay and Mom were nervous wrecks knowing this was about to be "natural" and with the nurses and doctors rushing around so quickly.  Like I said "Ready or Not Here She Comes!"  With less than 10 pushes our precious healthy little princess made her debut into the world at 1:25pm. She was perfect and worth all the pain!
